Southport Boats Announces New Dealer in South Florida

7/27/15, Augusta, Maine- Southport Boats of Augusta Maine has announced a new dealer in the ever popular South Florida Market. The new dealer, Boathouse Marine Center, has a main service, storage and sales location in Pompano Beach, as well as a mega-yacht facility in Fort Lauderdale which boasts indoor slip space for mega yachts. Boathouse joins 2 other dealers in Florida for Southport: Seahawk Marine in Stuart, and Ireland Yacht Sales in Sanibel.

Boathouse Marine Center, formerly Hideaway Marina, was purchased in 2013. Its location in Pompano includes 160 dry stack storage slips, as well as 22 more in-water. With experienced service staff, some at the location for over 20 years, Boathouse delivers full range of services and certified support for Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki and now Southport.

Boathouse offers a selection of used boats, and this year new boats. “Southport is a great addition to our new boat sales. At our location in the heart of Broward County where there are a number of smaller and unknown brands we knew Boathouse needed to carry a high luxury/high performance boat like Southport,” said Scott MacDonald, Sales & Business Development Manager of Boathouse Marine Center in Pompano.

Carrying the Southport line allows Boathouse to cater to serious offshore fisherman in South Florida. And, through their Mega Yacht Facility in Fort Lauderdale they are able to extend the brand’s reach into the tender market. “Their location in Pompano is fantastic and really serves our clients well, so the location in Fort Lauderdale was a true bonus” explained Skip Robinson, Managing Director at Southport. He went on to add “We believe that Southport is an ideal tender to the many megayachts in Fort Lauderdale. The team at Boathouse delivers access to the captains and owners of the many large yachts in Lauderdale. The boats have all the qualities to make it an outstanding tender:”

“We’re very excited to have the brand in house- we’ve taken delivery of our first boat, a flag blue 33FE, and it has been getting a lot of attention. And, Southport makes an outstanding tender with its style, quality of construction, yacht-like fit-n-finish, and terrific ride,” added MacDonald. In addition to the display at their Pompano location, the Southport 33 Family Edition has been seen cruising the ICW with customer demo rides. “We’ve found that because the boat is so visually beautiful and striking it gets a lot of attention. Having it out on the water and taking it to events around Fort Lauderdale is creating demand,” said Scott MacDonald.

The Pompano marina is located at 599 S Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL 33062, with the Mega Yacht facility located at 1601 SE 16th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. To set up a Southport showing and demonstration with Boathouse Marine Center, contact Scott MacDonald at (954) 943 3200.

Southport Boats Announces New Dealer in New Jersey

For Immediate Release

Southport Boats Announces New Dealer in New Jersey

7/7/15, Augusta, Maine- Southport Boats of Augusta Maine has announced a new dealer in their ever popular New Jersey market. Hobby Lobby Marine of Toms River, New Jersey has signed on with Southport to be their newest, and only dealer in the state of New Jersey. Hobby Lobby Marine was a successful Southport dealer for the original Southport ownership from 2005 through 2012, selling over thirty boats in New Jersey. The Hobby Lobby Marine facility, located at 1423 Bay Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753, boasts a full marina facility with slips, dry storage, a major service department, new and used boat and motor sales.

Founded in 1961 by Tom Tweer, Sr., Hobby Lobby Marine is in its second generation of family ownership; brothers Bob and Tom Tweer have positioned the dealership as a major player in off-shore center console boat sales. With a full service marina, showroom and service buildings now completely renovated, Hobby Lobby Marine will be the go-to location in New Jersey to see and demo-ride all three of the Southports models; the second generation 272 TE, the 292 FE and TE as well as the popular 33 FE and TE.

“We are very excited about the return of Tom and Bob Tweer, co-owners of Hobby Lobby Marine, to the Southport Family of Dealers. We invited them to join us almost two years ago and agreed to be patient while they rebuilt their marina and dealership, lost to ‘Super Storm Sandy’. As one of the most successful dealers of the former builder, we knew we had to have them back to properly serve the New Jersey market” said Skip Robinson, Managing Director at Southport Boats. “They are familiar with the brand and should be fully up to speed when their Southports arrive in a couple of months,” he added.

Southport Announces 2 New Models

Southport Announces New 272 TE Model and Second Generation 292 Series

6/16/2015, Augusta, Maine- Southport Boats of Augusta, Maine announces a new Tournament Edition, entry level model on their 27 foot platform, to be called the 272 TE, and a second generation 29 series that includes the Hunt4 Design of the original Southport hulls, but with overhauls of the deck arrangement, systems, hardware, fit-n-finish. Most importantly, the models will be delivered with an even better balance between exceptional craftsmanship and affordability.

272 TE

Southport 272TE Brochure

Southport 272 rendering w_insetThe new Southport 272 TE will offer a Tournament Edition layout on the traditional Southport 27 foot hull, with a coffin box in place of the forward wraparound seating, an improved livewell in the transom, redesigned console and helm pod, and a re-imagined T-Top and leaning post. The new T-Top will be structurally lighter and the frame cleaner, while the leaning post will be a semi-custom aluminum design with plush seating, storage beneath, and a multi-rod rocket launcher with cup holders mounted aft.

“The new 272 TE with single outboard power will be priced to enter the market at substantially under $150,000 – making it an extremely desirable and affordable off-shore, robust center console. At nearly a foot wider than most 27′ centers, she delivers more interior space and more stability than others in her class, not to mention that she performs more like a 28 or 29 foot boat. She is a terrific value in the spirit of exceptional Southport Boats,” explained Skip Robinson, Southport’s Managing Director.

Robinson went on to say “The market trend has been to build bigger, faster, and therefore more expensive center consoles. With this new initiative we are ignoring the bragging-rights race in favor of making Southport available to a wider audience. The 272 TE is priced to make the Southport brand affordable to buyers who want the level ride, stability and quality of a Southport, but with other family budget demands cannot justify investing 200,000+ dollars.  And for those who want 60 MPH performance and all the ‘bells and whistles’, the option list will deliver a best in class hull form that will do it all.”

Southport expects the first 272 TE to be completed in time for the fall boat show season.

292

SP 292 Perspective SFGThe second generation 29 series, now the 292, will follow shortly after the 272 TE launch. Much like the 272, the 292 FE and 292 TE will continue to use the same venerable Southport 29′ hull, with myriad changes on deck.

The boat will include a new, improved and larger hardtop with additional lighting, space for built-in speakers and optional retractable sunshades. The 292 will also sport a newly designed console, improved leaning post, and an updated ring deck. “The new ring deck will open up the seating/deck area without compromise to the spacious casting platform fishermen enjoy. The 292 FE and 292 TE will provide the volume and usable space of most 30-32’ models, and deliver a ride and performance like no other.” explained Robinson.

True to her Hunt designed heritage and iconic profile, the 292 will continue to leap on plane with little bow rise, keep the family or fishing buddies dry in almost any sea condition, run economically with little or no tab necessary and be the envy of others who wished they owned the best in class

Both second generation Southports will be on display at the Fall Boat Shows and at dealers soon after.

Southport Boats Completes First 33TE

Southport Boats Completes First 33TE

5/5/15, Augusta, Maine- Southport Boats of Augusta, Maine has completed the first hull of the highly anticipated 33TE model. The TE (Tournament Edition) was built as a response to demand for a 33′ Southport that offered the same ride and sea-keeping characteristics of the 33FE (Family Edition), but built for a ”strictly fishing” user profile.

The Southport TE model includes many of the same great features of the FE, but delivers a deck plan more appropriate for the serious fisherman. The most noticeable difference is in the foredeck, where the wraparound seating of the FE is replaced with a coffin box.

“The amount of space forward of the coffin box is truly spectacular. Many other boats with similar layouts boast equal foredeck area at the cost of Spartan appointments elsewhere on the boat. The 33TE offers all the space any fisherman could want but still provides the yacht-like features and finishes Southport owners are accustom to” said Skip Robinson, Managing Director of Southport Boats.

The Southport 33FE was launched in the summer of 2014 and immediately became a brand best-seller: to date over a dozen have been built and delivered and the expectation is to reach 20+ by year’s end. Despite the popularity of the Family Edition there was a significant demand for this new hull with a traditional fishing boat layout, and thus the TE was born. “We knew the TE was the next logical step for the 33″ added Robinson. “The FE is certainly no slouch when it comes to fishing and will satisfy all but the most hardcore anglers. This new 33TE takes the center console fishing boat to a new level”.

The first 33TE model left the Southport shop in Augusta, Maine in early April. The boat was an absolute head turner- “the color of the boat and the arrangement of the TE platform really made this boat special. The Tournament Edition Southport will re-affirm our reputation as a high quality fishing machine. It is in our DNA” concluded Mr. Robinson
