Southport Boats LLC has added North Point Yacht Sales to represent it full line of center console boats in the Mid-Atlantic region and the Carolinas. North Point Yacht Sales’ multiple locations will offer sea trials for Southport’s 27-foot, 29-foot and new 33-foot models beginning this spring.
North Point Yacht Sales has locations in Annapolis, Maryland; Portsmouth, Virginia; and Charleston, South Carolina. These sales offices will service Southport customers in Delaware and Chesapeake Bay, south to the inland and coastal Carolina waterways.
“We are delighted to partner with North Point Yacht Sales, whose professional team will represent our brand in three important locations,” said Peter Galvin, vice president of sales and marketing at Southport Boats. “We have been receiving many requests from people interested in demo riding the new Southport models in these regions. North Point will provide them with the opportunity they’ve been waiting for.”
North Point Yacht Sales offers new yacht sales and brokerage services. The company represents brands such as J Boats, Dufour Yachts, and MJM Yachts.
“We set out to find a brand that we would be proud to represent,” said Ken Comerford, president and owner of North Point Yacht Sales. “Southport delivers a proven legendary, smooth, dry and stable ride.”
North Point will be displaying Southport Boats at the Bay Bridge Boat Show in early April. The company has plans for other events later in the season to coincide with the launch of Southport’s new 33 FE model this spring.
Southport Boats LLC is introducing its largest center console model to date, the 33 FE. Designed in response to market demand for a roomier model, the Southport 33 FE offers options for both sportfishing and entertaining. The versatile model features Southport’s award-winning C. Raymond Hunt Associates hull, complemented by interior and deck enhancements from the in-house Southport design team. The first Southport 33 FE is currently under construction in Augusta, Maine, and will make its formal debut in spring 2014.
To satisfy needs of all types of boaters, the newest Southport model incorporates new port and starboard storage options that double as fishboxes. Two six-foot-long, insulated 57-gallon compartments are forward, and two more in-deck 75-gallon compartments are aft. Aft of the Southport 33 FE’s double helm chairs is an area that serves as a fishing tackle station or an entertainment center, depending on a customer’s preference. Other features – like plush lounge seats and a dinette that converts to a sunpad – cater to all tastes.
“I am amazed and delighted with the response from dealers and consumers. We already have orders for the 33FE that take us well into the model year,” said Skip Robinson, managing director of Southport Boats. “The design of the 33FE includes many suggestions from current Southport owners, making it a top-tier offshore center-console boat.”
The Southport 33 FE has several additional features that make the boat more attractive to boaters who are entertaining as well as fishing. The lockable head enclosure has six feet, three inches of standing room with a head, sink and shower. The forward lounge area has adjustable backrests and the aft seating folds down for more room for fishing. Inside the console is a six-foot berth for cruisers or a storage area for day-trippers.
Performance is a priority in the Southport 33 FE with twin 300-HP outboards that deliver good fuel economy and responsive handling. Customers have the option of upgrading to twin 350-HP outboards to maximize performance.
“In 2003 we were asked to develop a hull that would perform well at all speeds, not require aggressive acceleration in the ‘hump’ condition, and achieve the stable ride that comes from an optimized deep-vee and proper beam. We designed one of the best riding boats to come from our office,” said John Deknatel, president, C. Raymond Hunt Associates. “We expect the all-new 33-foot hull will demonstrate the same superior performance and ride characteristics.”
A preview of the 33 FE is available online at www.southportboats.com. Prospective customers can contact their local dealers to arrange for sea trials this spring.
